Highly Commended For Small Industrial Project Of The Year

At the recent FeRFA Best Practice Awards for 2017, ACC Flooring Ltd received a highly commended award for the Small Industrial Project of the Year for projects under 250m².

The project at an engineering company in Sheffield (case study) which has been trading for over 80 years was to upgrade their main staircase leading from the reception area. The company had recently refurbished their reception area and asked that the flooring installation was not only aesthetically pleasing but also left a lasting impression on their clients but one which was also functional for their workforce.

The staircase had vinyl flooring applied over various subfloor materials, namely screed, asphalt, and tiles. These materials had to be completely uplifted and removed to reinstate levels prior to the installation of a heavy duty polymer modified screed and Altro Screed Quartz to all treads, risers, stringers and corridors leading off the main staircase.

Altro Screed quartz resin flooring system was the perfect choice for this project due to the durability and ease of cleaning characteristics of the product and also its eye catching appearance.

The initial challenge was that the subfloor was composed of a variety of materials which need to be uplifted, removed and levelled before the resin flooring application could begin. Works also needed to be completed during the clients’ shutdown period which meant that this small window put considerable pressure on our installation team.

All the flooring waste and consumables from this project were returned to ACC Flooring Ltd. Once back at site, ACC Flooring Ltd sorted the waste and placed it in the correct recycling skips. Over 2,000 kgs of failed epoxy coatings and substrates were removed.

Over 100 resin units consisting of tubs, tins and consumables were also returned from site with 100% of this material being recycled.
