Donaldson Vets, one of Yorkshire’s best known and longest established practices has been caring for animals for more than 100 years.
In August they opened a new high-tech veterinary hospital costing £1.5m built on a derelict site in Huddersfield. The new facility boasts lots of available car parking and a comfortable waiting room with separate cats and dogs areas alongside six consulting rooms. Staffed around the clock with accommodation for over 45 dogs and 40 cats, the dedicated team will deal with everything from routine vaccinations to the most complex medical and surgical problems.
With five high sterile operating suites including one theatre especially designed for complex orthopaedic surgery and another that is adapted for minimally invasive keyhole procedures, the surgical facilities are second to none.
The theatres will be supported by a dedicated Diagnostics Suite including in-house Laboratory, Digital x-ray, Ultrasound and the most unusual on site 64 Slice CT Scanner. This “human hospital” quality machine is one of only a handful of veterinary CT Scanners in veterinary practices in the UK. Read the full case study.

Long term solution for problematic structural joints
Failed or damaged structural joints are not only an eyesore but can also cause costly damage not just to the substrate but to fork lift and bending trucks.
Concrete slab edges become damaged and start to break away with discrepancies in adjoining slab levels causing excessive truck movement and loss of stability especially when operatives are order picking at height.
By raking out the failed joint compound, sawcutting the joints and infilling with either ACC Bulk, a resin rich heavy duty polyurethane repair mortar or ACC Maintain Joint Repair, a low odour polyurethane concrete specifically designed to repair arrises in concrete floor slabs which will withstand continuous wear from forklift trucks and wheeled vehicles. ACC Flooring can provide the perfect long term solution with minimal downtime and disruption.
Both products are trowel applied with good chemical resistance and impact resistance and a 6 hour cure time for pedestrian traffic and 24 hour cure time for wheeled traffic.
If you need help with any concrete repairs, give us a call 0800 5420 518 and we’d be happy to assist.
Case Study – Britain’s First Farm Shop
Eight years after fire engulfed Britain’s first farm shop, work has now been completed to a £2.5m project to build state-of-the-art premises at Hinchcliffe’s Farm Shop and Restaurant in Huddersfield.
This year will mark the 90th anniversary of the family business. Great-grandfather Allen Hinchcliffe opened a butcher’s shop in Huddersfield in 1929 with grandfather Charlie opening the farm shop in the early 1970’s, just a few years before the late Duchess of Devonshire opened hers at Chatsworth.
Four months after the fire the business moved into its temporary home, two massive marquees pushed together.
The new building has been awarded a LEADER grant as part of the Rural Development Programme for England, which has partially funded the project.
This project is an excellent example of an outstanding and eye catching decorative encapsulated acrylic flake system which ideal for any commercial space and benefits from low odour, good chemical resistance, good abrasion resistance and ease of cleaning. Read full case study
Recycling
ACC Flooring is very proud of our recycling strategy. We were the first resin flooring contractor to sign up to “halving waste to landfill” commitment and the first to achieve 100% recycling on a sole project.
We were the winners of the FeRFA Environmental Initiative award in back in 2011.
We hold a waste carriers licence enabling us to remove the waste we generate from any site. By receiving up to date monthly reports, we can see exactly what products and quantities we are recycling. It is our legal requirement to ensure our waste is disposed of correctly.
Altro Resins have been a major supplier to us for many years. Altro Tect has a recycled materials content of 48% whilst their Flexiflow product containing more than 50% renewable natural oil content.
