Case Study: Commercial Vehicle Service Centre

ACC Flooring secured the contract to install the resin floor finishes to a new commercial vehicle centre in Avonmouth. The service centre consists of 22 workbays, drive through ATF & ADR areas & a PDI Centre for both new & used vehicles.

In Phase 1 of the installation the workshop surface area to 1,310m² was mechanically prepared by enclosed shotblasting whilst the other areas to Phase 2 to 1,340m² were prepared by hand held vacuum controlled diamond grinders.

2 coats of Altro Tect high build epoxy coating in Gunmetal Grey was installed throughout. Altro Tect is a robust coating & is perfect for warehousing flooring, packing, workshop flooring, plant rooms & storage areas. With a life expectancy of 7 years the product is the ideal flooring solution for medium duty industrial areas. A slip resistant profile was included to the ramp to eliminate any risks of slips by employees.

The existing black & white hatching to the vehicle pit of 14 metres was removed by diamond grinding & a high build coating in Charcoal applied to the base of the pit & the entrance steps. Altro Line high visibility, high gloss epoxy coating was applied to the steps, Headlight Bay & Rolling Road in both Safety Yellow & Black.

The high build coating in Charcoal was installed to additional areas including 2Nr pits each to 20 metres & 1Nr pit to 10 metres & 16Nr steps in & out of these pits. Altro Line demarcation lines in Safety Yellow were again applied to enhance the health & safety features around these areas.

Altro Line in Safety Yellow was again used to highlight the 5Nr Roller Shutter Doors with 2Nr lines each to 35m in length applied to each door to provide the drivers with a designated bay to drive their vehicle into.

To the ADR Bay a scratch coat in Altro Flow self-levelling epoxy was applied to the impact damaged areas the substrate to improve the aesthetical appearance prior to the installation of the high build coating.

1Nr pit was again highlighted in Altro Line in Safety Yellow. Whilst a high build coating in Green was applied to 1m² to each of the 8Nr Fire Doors to highlight these exit routes.

Altro Line with its high gloss appearance is perfect for defining walkways, isolated spaces & areas.

The project was completed to the agreed timescale to enable the business to open to clients on the scheduled date.
