Case Study: Cosmetics Factory – Leeds
ACC Flooring were contacted to carry out a refurbishment project for a long term existing client, in one of their Process areas. The project was to be carried out over a planned shutdown period over the Christmas week as to not impact on their busy production schedule.
Mechanical preparation was carried out by way of enclosed diamond grinding and the use of a STR machine with scrubbing brush attachment to ensure a clean sound substrate was left ready to receive a resin floor finish. All preparation equipment is attached to industrial vacuum units to encapsulate dust generated during the preparation process.
Some small areas of damage were then repaired using a low odour polyurethane concrete repair mortar, specifically designed for floor repairs to either concrete or polymer modified cementitious screeds and can be applied at a thickness of 5 – 10mm as required.
Once the floor area was fully prepared two coats of a solvent free high build epoxy coating in a Green to approximately 460m2 was installed with a chelford aggregate scatter between coats to provide a slip resistant profile as requested by the client.
Demarcation lines in Safety Yellow were installed to the clients requirements using a solvent free high build epoxy line marking system, to complete the project.
Solvent free high build coatings offer excellent abrasion and chemical resistance and are applied at a nominal 350-500 microns for two coats, they are suitable for regular foot traffic and light Forklift Truck traffic.
Slip resistant options are available on request and can be tailored to a clients requirements.
Approx cure times for high build coatings at a 20 degrees celsius (all dependent on-site conditions)
- Cure time to Pedestrian Traffic – 24 hours
- Cure time to Light Wheeled Traffic – 4 Days
- Full Chemical Resistance – 7 Days
The newly installed floor should be protected from contact with water for a minimum of 7 days.
