Case Study: An Engineering Company
ACC Flooring was asked by a long standing client to propose a new flooring system for the Managing Directors and Ladies Toilets to which the vinyl flooring had failed and both areas were looking tired. The client asked that the areas be brightened up and made pleasing on the eye. We had to recommend an unusual product specification as the client’s main criteria was a durable but decorative solution.
The concrete substrate was prepared by enclosed vacuum diamond grinding. We also had to supply and fit plywood backing to the perimeter prior to the installation of the coving detail.
After preparation a heavy duty polyurethane screed was applied @ 6mm in Midnight Blue. This product is not only hygienic and hard wearing, it offers good chemical resistance and provides a natural slip resistant profile (but is only available in a matt finish). During the curing process a decorative acrylic flake in a contrast Blue colour combination was fully blinded into the polyurethane screed and allowed to cure. Once this process had concluded, the excess flakes were swept off and two clear gloss seal coats installed.
A polyurethane mortar for vertical surfaces and radius cove was installed to the coving detail and finished with a water based polyurethane grout to give a mottled matt finish to complement to gloss appearance to the flooring.
Completed in a 3 day programme the client was delighted with the end result.
