Case Study: Family Run Commercial Vehicle Dealership – West Yorkshire

ACC Flooring were contacted by a local family-owned Commercial Vehicle Dealers who were extending their current Workshop facilities.

Once the extension was built, they required a resin flooring system installing. With the main of the installation to be carried out over a weekend to facilitate their busy schedule and to reduce downtime.

The project was for approx 855m2 of resin flooring to The Existing and New Paint Shop, Bays and installation of a walkway though the Main Workshop.

The floor was prepared by enclosed shotblasting, which strips and cleans the floor to enhance the application of the resin system. Further preparation using handheld diamond grinders was then carried out as required, all preparation equipment is attached to industrial vacuums to encapsulate any dust created.

Existing expansion joints where diamond sawcut and infilled with a low odour polyurethane concrete floor repair compound, used also to repair joint arises in the concrete floor slab, it has a similar consistency to a cement based mortar and can be trowelled to a closed finish, and also offers excellent impact resistance and durability. It can be applied at a thickness of 5 – 10mm as required, with a cure time of approx 6 hours to light pedestrian traffic, 24 hours to light wheeled traffic and 48 hours to heavy duty traffic.

Once the floor areas were fully prepared two coats of a high build epoxy coating in Mid Grey were applied and left to cure.

A Walkway at 1m wide was then installed using a high build coating in a Chelsea Blue colour to differentiate and highlighted with Safety Yellow border lines to both sides of the walkway.

High build coatings are tough and durable with a good chemical resistance, and often used in workplaces such as Warehouses, Factories, Workshops and Storage areas.

The approximate thickness for 2 coats is 350 microns. Slip resistant variants are available upon request and can be tailored to a clients requirements, this can be discussed during the initial site visit by ACC Flooring.
