Case Study: Fire Station, Wakefield

ACC Flooring Ltd was appointed by Marshall (Building Contractors) Ltd to install the resin flooring package at Wakefield Fire Station for West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service Authority.

In December 2018 we worked with Marshall on a successful project at the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Headquarters at Birkenshaw.

Altro Resins had been specified by the architect to the floor area, coving detail and expansion joint compound.

The 182m² area was mechanically prepared with vacuum enclosed diamond grinders. Altro Prime standard primer was applied and allowed to cure. Altro Crete 6mm slip resistant variant in Laterite was installed to the Appliance Bays and feathered into the doorways and the 3Nr Aco drainage channels. This product is perfect for these types of locations, offering excellent chemical and impact resistance whilst benefiting from a low slip potential rating of ≥50 ptv. Altro also offer a 10 year material warranty to support their product.

Aluminium birds beak trim were fitted prior to Altro Cove being installed to the perimeter coving detail of 35m at 200mm high. The expansion joints around each of the Aco drains were diamond saw cut and infilled with Altro Expand to complete the installation.

The installation was completed in budget to the agreed 4 day time-frame.
