Case Study: Health & Beauty Manufacturer in Bradford

ACC Flooring Ltd was asked by a long standing client to refurbish one of their main production areas. The high build coating to existing truck route had worn due to trafficking & both the areas under the two production lines & the safety walkway required refreshing.

The total area of 390m² was prepared by enclosed shotblasting & vacuum controlled diamond edge grinding to ensure that all the laitance was removed.

The truck route required a robust system to provide longevity and performance in a highly demanding area. The concrete substrate was prepared with an epoxy primer prior to the installation of a heavy duty polyurethane screed in Charcoal to 147m². The product was installed at 6mm with high abrasion & outstanding durability properties providing the perfect solution for this heavy traffic area. The expansion joints were diamond saw cut & infilled with a polyurethane modified epoxy jointing compound.

2 coats of a high build epoxy coating in Mid Grey with a slip resistant Chelford aggregate scatter between coats was applied to the two production lines of 164m². Offering both good chemical resistance & good impact resistance and providing a seal surface a high build epoxy coating will have a life expectancy of 7 years in these areas.

The walkway to 79m² was re-instated with 2 coats of a high build epoxy coating in Red again with a slip resistant Chelford aggregate scatter between coats to provide a low slip potential. A coat of Altro Line high build epoxy coating in White with a high gloss finish was applied to outline the walkway to 73m at 100mm wide. Altro Line is ideal for defining isolated areas & spaces as well as zebra crossings & walkways & is available in Black, White, Safety Yellow & Safety Red.

The work was completed in a 3 day window incorporating weekend hours to minimise downtime for the client & cause minimal disruption to this busy manufacturing department.
