Case Study: Major Pharmaceutical Manufacturer
A major pharmaceutical manufacturer with global brands contacted ACC Flooring to install a resin flooring system in one of their main production areas.
The company wanted a more modern flooring to assist in the efficient operation of the factory. The flooring was to be installed in an area that processes and packages liquid products. The client wanted a slip resistant, seamless and hardwearing finish which was not only easy to maintain and withstand impact from pallet trucks but also resistant to chemical attacks from any accidental spillage.
After listening to the clients requirements, ACC Flooring recommended a decorative epoxy quartz system. The substrate was mechanically prepared by vacuum enclosed diamond grinding equipment to eliminate most airborne dust. After installing a primer coat, a coloured aggregate was scattered into the primer. A 4mm screed was then applied followed by 2 coats of seal coat. Vertical coving was installed in the same quartz system during the installation of the flooring to provide a seamless transition between the floor and coving to eradicate the risk of bacteria.
Other decorative systems are available including a mosaic product which encapsulates decorative flakes which can be in either matt or gloss finishes and slip-resistant grip systems installed at between 2 – 6mm which included decorative aggregates in various sizes.
Decorative flooring systems are ideal for kitchens, food and drink packing areas, laboratories, pharmaceutical, changing areas, showers, mortuaries, atria, reception areas, corridors and communal areas. An anti-static quartz option is also available for where there is an electronically sensitive environment and equipment. The system is measured in accordance with BS 2050.
