Case Study: Manufacturer of Composite Products

ACC Flooring was instructed to provide a resin flooring solution to the factory floor for a new client who manufactures composite products in advanced engineering applications including components & assemblies for aircraft structures & systems. The client made the initial approach in February 2020 & due to the issues relating to Covid 19, it wasn’t until November 2020 that a small sample in Altro Crete heavy duty polyurethane screed was installed to allow the client to full test & traffic the proposed flooring solution. Having carried out their performance tests on the sample an order was placed for an area of 460m².

All the racking areas were sheeted up with polythene to protect both stock & equipment prior to any preparation work. The existing substrate was mechanically prepared with hand held diamond grinders, Von Arx & Hilti equipment to remove any laitance.

Once fully prepared, the substrate received a coat of primer prior to the installation of Altro Crete @ 6mm in Steel Grey. The product provides a durable, seamless, hygienic & slip resistant system which is perfect for heavy duty areas including food processing, bakeries, dairies, breweries, chemical processing, commercial kitchens, chemical & pharmaceutical production & storage.

The expansion joints were diamond saw cut & infilled with Altro Expand in Steel to complete the installation.

The work was completed in a 5 day window between Christmas & New Year.
