Case Study: Manufacturer of Cosmetics and Toiletries, Bradford

As an industrial flooring contractor, we were asked by a long standing client to carry out further works to their manufacturing unit in Bradford.

The Tube Saving area was in need of refreshing as the existing high build epoxy coating had been damaged in several places and the pedestrian walkways required re-instating. In addition a further pedestrian walkway required restoring and also a new walkway to a newly built changing room facility was to be installed to provide additional health and safety features around the factory.

The total area of 470m² had to be prepared and installed over a three day period including weekend hours to minimise any disruption to the clients manufacturing output.

The substrate to all three areas was shotblasted to strip, clean and profile the floor surfaces to enhance the performance of the epoxy application. The thickness of the original surface layer that is removed during the shotblasting process can vary depending upon its existing condition and the epoxy or resin product which has been applied.

The escape of dust, debris and other particles is minimised by using closed circuit machinery for a safe and clean surface preparation process.

Due to the condition of the substrate to the new changing facility an epoxy scratchcoat was initially installed to improve the appearance of the completed installation. A top coat of ACC HB SF, solvent free, high build epoxy coating was applied including the back-rolling of a slip resistant Chelford aggregate.

To the Tube Saving area and the existing walkways, 2 coats of ACC HB SF was installed with a Chelford aggregate scatter between coats to provide a slip resistant profile.

ACC HB SF is available in a high gloss finish and offers a fully sealed surface with both good chemical and abrasion resistance properties and ease of cleaning. With a medium duty classification and an anticipated life expectancy of a minimum 7 years, the product is ideal for general industry, warehouse flooring and vehicle workshop flooring and is available in a wide range of colours.

To complete the installation to all the pedestrian walkways a coat of Altro Line solvent free high build, high visibility, epoxy line marking and demarcation system was applied @ 80mm wide to define both sides of the walkways.

Altro Line is the ideal solution for detailing isolated areas, spaces pedestrian crossings, walkways and other forms of demarcation and is available in four standard colours in a high gloss finish including Safety Yellow, White, Black and Safety Red.

The work was completed in the agreed timescale and the client was delighted with the results.
