Case Study: Manufacturing Unit

A small manufacturing unit contacted ACC Flooring on advice for the refurbishment of their kitchen & toilet areas.

The client having had a vinyl flooring for many years asked for a resin flooring solution which was not only eye catching but also easy to clean and provide a slip resistant finish to eliminate any potential accidents due to spillages.

The vinyl flooring and skirting was uplifted, removed and disposed and the exposed concrete was prepared by vacuum control diamond grinders.

Altro Mosaic in Equinox colourway with a gloss finish was chosen by the client due to its good chemical and abrasion resistance and ease of cleaning. The product is a solvent free epoxy resin combination system which encapsulates decorative acrylic flakes in Altro Tect standard and clear epoxy resin.

Altro Tect standard gloss was used as a primer, the coloured flakes were then fully blinded into the primer, after curing, the excess flakes were swept and removed and two coats of Altro Tect clear gloss seal used to complete the flooring system.

The coving detail was installed to a white plastic trim using ACC WR which is a polyurethane mortar which is ideal for durability, impact, abrasion and chemical resistance. ACC Coloured Grout in charcoal was then applied to complement to flooring colourway.

The client was delighted with the installation which gave them all the characteristics they were looking for from their new flooring.

Altro Mosaic is a FeFRA type 4 product installed at 1 – 1.5mm with a life expectancy of 8 years and is ideal for medium duty area including communal areas, walkways, corridors, reception areas and atria and is available if both gloss and matt finishes.

ACC WR is used for plinths and bases, drain linings and bunds and has a lightly textured matt finish.
