Case Study: Vehicle Accident Repair, Glasgow

ACC Flooring Ltd was approached by a new client who has a nationwide network of motor vehicle repair centres to carry out an installation in their new premises at a site near Glasgow.

The area of 1,230m² required the concrete substrate to be initially prepared by enclosed shotblasting with the edges completed by enclosed diamond grinding. Both of these methods of surface preparation are vacuum enclosed which cause the minimal amount of airborne dust.

2 coats of Altro Tect Fast Track, solvent free, high build epoxy coating in Winter Grey was applied to the area except for a space designated as EV Bay. Altro Tect Fast Track has all the benefits of Altro Tect standard product:

• Fully seal surface
• Low odour
• Good chemical resistance
• Good abrasion resistance
• High gloss finish
• Ease of cleaning

With the added advantage of a faster intimal cure time which guarantees that in colder weather the 1^st coat has cured overnight to enable the 2^nd coat to be applied the day after therefore minimising downtime and eliminating potential added installation costs.

A small area of 36m² to the Entrance had a slip resistant aggregate scatter into the 1^st coat to provide a degree of slip resistant from adverse weather conditions with potential wet tyres bringing rain water or snow into the building.

The EV Bay required a coating of Altro Tect Fast Track in RAL 6018 to match the internal decoration. To create a border a coat of Altro Line, solvent free epoxy lining marking/demarcation system in White was applied.

Altro Line is a high visibility product in a high gloss finish with a low odour and good chemical resistance and ease of cleaning properties and is available in Black, White, Safety Yellow and Safety Red.
