Case Study: Specialist Manufacturers of Machined and Fabricated Components – Leeds

Having completed a project back in 2018 for the client based in Leeds West Yorkshire, they got back in touch to carry out further works this time to their Machining Department, the works were to take place over a weekend to fit in with their production schedule.

The total area of approximately 420m2 of existing coated concrete substrate was prepared by enclosed vacuum attached diamond grinding to remove any laitance, loose failed coatings and to provide a clean sound substrate ready to receive a resin floor finish.

In small areas where the floor had been damaged by the removal of machinery a resin rich heavy duty polyurethane repair mortar had to be used. This repair mortar can be used to infill depths of 10 – 60mm depending on the severity of the repair.

After the preparation process, two coats of solvent free high build epoxy coating in a Mid Grey colour was applied at a nominal 350-500 microns for both coats.

High build coatings are widely used for medium duty traffic areas, that require an easy to clean, tough, durable coating with a good level of chemical resistance.

The Machining Department floor was then finished off with Safety Demarcation all as per the customers requirements, Safety Yellow Walkway Lines, Hatching and a Black and White Zebra Crossing all installed using a one coat solvent free epoxy line marking system.
