Case Study: Specialist Precision Engineering Company
ACC Flooring was asked by a long standing client to provide a recommendation for their new factory flooring. The company design and manufacture bespoke automation solutions for a diverse range of industries including food production, confectionary, FMGC, tobacco, pharmaceutical and medical device. Their client base includes Astra Zeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Imperial Tobacco, Johnson & Johnson, Nestle, Pedigree, Proctor & Gamble, Unilever & Twinning.
The floor area of 1,615m² was shotblasted with diamond grinding to the edges to remove any laitance. An epoxy scratchcoat was then applied followed by a coat of Altro Tect slip resistant high build epoxy coating in Flint Grey to provide a system thickness of 750 – 850 microns.
Altro Tect is a durable twin pack solvent free epoxy ideal for light to medium duty industrial applications providing a fully sealed surface with good chemical and abrasion resistance in a high gloss finish with ease of cleaning and a comprehensive colour palette.
The expansion joints were diamond saw cut and infilled with Sikaflex PRO-3 high performance joint sealant in Grey. Sikaflex PRO-3 has a movement capacity of 25%, bubble free curing, good mechanical and chemical resistance and very good adhesion to most construction materials
Demarcation in the form of zebra crossings and hatchings was installed in Altro Line, solvent free, high build epoxy demarcation and line marking system in Black, White, Safety Yellow and Safety Red for additional health & safety features for the benefit of both employees and visitors.
Altro Line is perfect for defining walkways, zebra crossings, isolated areas and spaces and benefits from a high gloss and high visibility appearance with good chemical resistance.
The project was completed in five working days within budget and the client was delighted with the result.
