Case Study: Vehicle Accident Repair Centre, Caldicot

ACC Flooring Ltd was asked by a returning client to provide a fit for purpose floor finish to a new vehicle accident repair centre.

The existing concrete substrate required breaking out of the damage areas and infilling with ACC Bulk, a resin rich heavy duty polyurethane repair mortar. The product is trowel applied to a thickness of 10 – 60mm and can also be used as an underlayment on concrete and polymer modified cementitious screeds and to form falls or ramps prior to the application system.

The failed expansion joints and substrate cracks were raked out and infilled with ACC Maintain Joint Repair polyurethane patching kit. This is a low odour polyurethane concrete which is rubber modified and provides excellent physical properties in terms of impact resistance and will withstand wear from forklift trucks and wheeled vehicle traffic.

Unlike epoxy compounds ACC Maintain Joint Repair will cure at temperatures below 5°C.

2 coats of Altro Tect high build epoxy coating in Winter Grey was installed to the 235m² area. We also include a slip resistant aggregate to the areas in front of the roller shutter doors to provided added health and safety benefits for both employees and customers.

Altro Tect offers medium duty wear characteristics and is ideal for vehicle work shop spaces. With the advantages of a providing a fully sealed surface with both good chemical and abrasion resistance in a high gloss finish with ease of cleaning the product has a life expectancy of 7 years.

The project was completed on budget in the agreed timeframe.
