Case Study: Vertical Woollen Mill, Leeds
A fabric manufacturer was looking for a resin flooring contractor and approached ACC Flooring to carry out remedial work in their Dyehouse.
The client has manufactured fabrics including jackets, trousers & skirts along with furnishing, apparel, interior fashion & accessories since 1837.
We started the resin floor repairs by uplifting the failed floor using Hilti kangos. The failed coving was also removed and disposed. The exposed concrete substrate was hand prepared with diamond grinders with Hilti floor cutters being used to create anchor grooves.
A resin rich heavy duty repair mortar which is trowel applied was installed to create a screed to falls into the existing channel over a small area. The product can be installed between 10 – 60mm and has a cure time to light pedestrian traffic of 8 hours.
A heavy duty polyurethane screed @ 6mm was installed to this high traffic area. With a seamless finish, a very high chemical resistance, high abrasion resistance & slip resistant properties this product is ideal for a Dyehouse environment.
The coving detail was replaced to a small area by installing breeze blocks and shuttering before the installation of a seamless polyurethane render which is ideal for coving, plinths and bases, drain linings and bunds. The coving was completed with a coloured water based polyurethane grout.
The installation was completed in a 3 day window to the delight of the client.
